Colourpop Lux Lipsticks | Review + Swatches

The moment we have all been waiting forCOLOURPOP LUX LIPSTICKS. I don’t know about you guys, but I am so over the matte liquid lipstick trend. I have been so into the traditional bullet lipsticks lately, so I am 100% on board with all these new launches popping up! Colourpop is one of my all time favorite brands – amazing quality with an awesome, affordable price tag – so of course I was so stoked to see that they were one of the brands jumping on the bandwagon and launching their new Lux lipsticks! They came out with 24 beautifully creamy shades, all with a stunning comfortable matte finish. The packaging is gorgeous – a nice gold component with little stars all over the tube, and they even embossed little stars on the actual product! The best part is that they are only $7!

Bare Minerals Gen Nude

Say hello to Bare Minerals Gen Nude collection, made for every skintone  and with mineral rich ingredients that are good for your skin. Bare Minerals has come out with 20 brand new Gen Nude lip lacquer shades (I only have 10 of them to share today) and 12 brand new blushes. Blushes and lip glosses are among my favorite makeup products, so I just knew I had to feature these beauties on the blog!

I don’t know what it is about blush, but a nice peachy, pink blush just makes my soul feel complete! Bare Minerals definitely made all my blush dreams come true with this launch – so many natural, fresh faced, rosy glows to choose from! This blush is very soft formula and applies and blends out beautifully on the skin. Never muddy, or too harsh. These blushes are formulated with a special blurring mineral complex that blurs imperfections and gives your skin a soft glow from within sort of look.

  • Instant Natural Flush – These nude shades mimic the natural flush of skin for a healthy radiant looking complextion
  • Buildable Color – Easy to apply and wear, quick swipe and go
  • Blurring Effect – Light reflecting Hydrated Silica Pearl, Marimo Pearl, and Super Diffusion Powder brighten cheeks and leave a soft-focus effect
  • Mineral-Rich Formula – Good for skin, mineral mica helps smooth skin

The Gen Nude Patent Lip Lacquer has 20 perfect nudes in the complete collection, but I only have 10 of them to share today. You can check out the website here to see the complete shade range. The shades range from mauves, to pinks, peaches, and beige tones – all handpicked to flatter each and every skintone. The patent-like shine leaves your lips looking juicy and feeling soft as ever. Since it is a gloss formula, it is on the sticky side, but not an uncomfortable honey-like feeling. I honestly didn’t notice the gloss on after a few minutes, it’s very comfortable on. These have an intense, high-pigment color payoff with the most gorgeous shine in just a single swipe. My favorite part though – the scent! They smell like vanilla cake! If you are sensitive to smells, don’t worry – the scent is more subtle and you don’t notice it much after initial application.

  • Next Level Shine – High shine liquid lipsticks with lacquer-like finish
  • Full Coverage – One coat, full coverage color
  • Moisturizing – Jojoba oil and algae provide ultra-comfortable, non-drying wear
  • Mineral-Rich Formula – Smithsonite Extract and copper helps to make lips feel softer and appear fuller

NARS Spring ‘18 Collection

Nars has just launched their ‘Spring it On’ Spring Color collection and it’s actually everything. The soft pinks and neutrals of this collection are definitely spring appropriate, and if you saw my last blog post, you know I am all about pink everything right now/always! The collection launched January 18th and unveiled eight new products.

My Favorite part of the collection are the Lip Covers! These are high pigment, full coverage lip glosses with a smooth, velvety finish. They feel incredible on and leave your lips feeling moisturized. Best part is that they aren’t overly sticky, which is one thing I hate about traditional glosses. These are infused with Passion Fruit Seed Oil and Vitamin E, known to protect skin from free radicals and pollution.

The four new shades from top to bottom; Embrasse Moi, Under Arrest, Summer Fire, and Hell Gate. They retail for $28.

Next is their new liquid blush in Hot Tin Roof. The Nars liquid blush formula is one of the most highly pigmented formulas I have ever tried, you only need the teeniest amount of product with these. These blend out with ease and give you such a natural flushed look. If you want to kick it up a notch, layer with powder blush! Another thing I love to do with it, is just tap it over my lips for a super natural ‘your lips but better’ pout.

Top Swatch is blended out, bottom is full pigment. The liquid blushes retail for $30.

They also launched a new traditional, powder blush in ‘Free Soul‘. It’s a little more pastel than their cult favorite, ‘Orgasm’ shade, but has the same amount of shimmer. Orgasm is, of course, one of my favorite blushes of all time, so I was instantly in love with this new shade! Nars has one of my favorite blush formulas so I always recommend them! These retail for $30, same price as the liquid blush.

Last items in the collection are new Velvet Shadow Sticks, which are cream eye shadow pencils! I love to use shadow sticks when I want a quick all over shade, or to use as a base to really intensify my eye shadow. These in particular glide on the lid so smoothly and are still high pigment when buffed out. My favorite is definitely the silver shade ‘Galice‘, it is such a stunning metallic silver.

Top swatch is Frioul, bottom is Galice. These retail for $29.

This whole collection was a hit for me! I am always a huge fan of the Nars blushes, both powder and liquid, so I will always recommend those to anyone that was on the fence on picking one up, but I do highly recommend the Lip Covers out of everything! The formula is so different than any other gloss I have tried, so even if you are a lip product junkie like myself, this is something a little different to add to your collection! I love the wear and look of these so much, and I’ve become more of a gloss person these days, so it’s right up my ally! Let me know in the comments if you have picked any of the new Spring line up, or plan to! Thanks so much for reading!

Urban Decay x Kristen Leanne Collection + Swatches

I realize it’s only January, but I think it’s safe to say that Urban Decay just dropped the collaboration of the year. Urban Decay just teamed up with YouTuber, and a good friend of mine, Kristen Leanne and I can honestly say that there is no better duo than these two. When I think of fun, edgy, colorful, and unique makeup looks, I think of Kristen – who is basically the human embodiment of all things magical, glittery, and amazing. So her teaming up with Urban Decay, the inventors of edgy and bright makeup, is truly a match made in heaven. Together they created a full makeup collection complete with two eye shadow palettes, six lip colors, a highlight palette, and a single shadow. I do not have the entire collection, I’m missing the liquid lipsticks and single shadow, but I do have some of the larger pieces from the range and I am so excited to share each of them with you today! The full collection is now available on the Urban Decay website.

The entire aesthetic of the collection is so dreamy, hands down the best product packaging I have seen to date. I love how the Vice lipstick exterior packaging has a holographic shift to it. My favorite piece, packaging wise, from the collection is the Daydream palette. I love the neon light font over-top of what looks to be frosting, and the inside is full of pastels and florals that looks to be straight out of something Alice in Wonderland dreamed up.

The three Vice lipsticks that UD x KL launched are incredible. I haven’t tried the Vice formula previously, but these were super creamy and high pigment. Bun Bun and Cloud 9 are both comfort mattes, which are exactly as the name implies. They are some of the smoothest matte lipsticks I’ve ever tried, very similar feel to the new Fenty Mattemoiselle lipsticks. Spell Bound is a Mega Matte, so it’s not quite as smooth and creamy as the other two, but it’s still very high pigment and such an intense matte, I’ve never had a lip product that wasn’t a liquid formula be so intensely matte – super impressed. I also love the little heart with Kristen’s name on each tube, such a cute touch!

The Beauty Beam highlight palette is a pretty versatile palette that I feel will suit a variety of different skin tones. With highlight palettes, it’s usually difficult for anyone to be able to pull off all the shades in the palette, but what I love is that you can mix up the shades inside to create you own perfect shade, and these are such a creamy, shimmery formula that they would make amazing eye shadows as well!

The Daydream palette is a 5 piece neutral eye shadow palette, perfect for pairing with the Kaleidoscope palette, or just great for everyday wear on it’s own! I love Urban Decay shadows, with the exception of all the Naked palettes, and these were so different. A very soft, pigmented formula, that was super easy to blend. Like I mentioned earlier, the packaging on this palette killed me. It so gorgeous and very cohesive to the shades inside, you can tell that there was a clear vision with this palette and it was brought to life so beautifully.

The Kaleidoscope Dream palette seems to be the most popular palette of the collection, for obvious reasons. Inside the palette are 11 bright, high pigment shadows that just scream Kristen Leanne. Kristen is all about color, from her hair (using her own hair dye brand, Arctic Fox!), to her clothes, to her makeup, she is such a whimsical spirit, and she really did emulate that in this palette. Each shade in here has such a buttery texture and is full pigment with just one swipe, I was practically drooling while swatching these.

Once I saw the announcement of this collaboration, I knew they were going to kill it. Now holding the products in my hands, I am even more impressed! They did such an amazing job bringing Kristen’s personality and aesthetic to life, I am just so amazed by the entire collection and I cannot wait to play around some more with each product and create some looks for you guys! I will be filming some IG videos with the collection this week (which I’ll add to this post as I create them) but if you guys have an requests for me to use particular items or shades, let me know in the comments below!

Congratulations to Kristen, I know this collaboration is a dream come true to her and she deserves this so much – such an unreal opportunity! You guys can now shop the collection here.

Smashbox Photo Edit Eye Shadow Trios (+swatches!)

Smashbox has snapped! Okay, that was a terrible camera pun, BUT Smashbox really did go off with their latest launch, and their first of 2018! Smashbox has just launched 16 highly pigmented, super blendable, brand new Photo Edit Eye Shadow trios. Each trio retails for $22 and are available at Ulta, Sephora, and at http://www.smashbox.com.

Below are swatches of each trio! I have yet to use them on my eyes, so I can’t tell you anything about performance yet, but based off the swatches the formula is consistent and packs high pigment. The metallic shades in the trios are unbelievably creamy and the color payoff is insane! I was super impressed by each of them! My favorites so far are “It’s Fire”, “Showmance”, and Day Rate.

I think these little trios are adorable and the pigmentation is great. These are amazing for beginners in makeup or girls that just want easy makeup in the mornings, however I am a little confused about the price point. The Cover Shot eye shadow palettes that were launched last year had 8 shades in them and were available for $29 with 0.21oz of product, whereas these only have 3 shades and are $22 with 0.11oz of product. Smashbox is a higher end brand, so higher prices are expected, but I just don’t really understand what they are basing the price of these off of. It seems to me $18 would be a more realistic price point for a small trio. What do you guys think of the new trios? Are you planning to pick any up?

2018 Wet n Wild Overview

Wet n Wild has dropped their 2018 collection and I am so grateful to have been sent a majority of the new line! I have always been a fan of Wet n Wild Beauty because they have some really great products at such an insanely affordable price! They have really been stepping up their formulas lately, I personally love their liquid lipstick formula more than most higher end brands, but this new collection has me over the moon! They have released so many new products, including a new cushion foundation, and extension of new shades added to their Liquid Catsuit’s, and NEW BRUSHES. I am going to take you along with me and go through each new product one by one, talking about what it does and showing some swatches! Let’s go!

The first new product is this MegaCushion Foundation which is infused with coconut derivative. It’s luminous, lightweight, and a buildable formula that helps boost hydration and contains SPF 15 for added skin protection. If you aren’t familiar with cushion foundation, they come with a sponge for easy application and are typically a fuller coverage. This foundation in particular is definitely a medium-buildable coverage, and is extremely dewy! So far there are only 8 shades, which doesn’t give a ton of options for the average consumer. My shade is Light Ivory, the lightest shade. I think it’s really cute how the girl on the packaging matches the shade on the inside! Best part is that they are only $8.99!

Shades in order: Light Ivory, Cream Ivory, Nude Beige, Buff Beige, Natural Beige, Honey Beige, and Tawny.

Like I mentioned above, the shade range is a little disappointing. Especially since their PhotoFocus Foundation had 20 different shades to choose from. I’m hoping they are planning to expand on this collection as 2018 approaches.

Next up is the PhotoFocus Dewy Face Primer! From the website it is described as “Infused with Vitamin E, this lightweight formula helps smooth your skin for an even makeup application. The primer is infused with pearl pigments to add dimension for that glow-from-within look.” Above is a swatch so you can see the consistency and color of the primer, and below the swatch is it buffed into my skin. I realize you can’t tell too much about how it looks buffed into the skin, but the pearl pigments created such a luminous effect on the skin! These are available for only $4.99!

Above are a few new shades of both their Silk Finish lipsticks (left) and Megalast Lip Colors (right). The Silk Finish lipsticks are one of my favorite formulas of tube lipsticks and they are only 99 cents – insane!

Shades top to bottom: Raging Red, In The Near Fuchsia, Secret Muse, Honolulu is Calling, Never Nude, Rose the Matter, Smooth Mauve’s, Violet’s Kiss, Blackout.

Each shade is super creamy and feels amazing on the lips. The pigment is amazing on these and I am always just so impressed by the price point!

They also launched six new shades of their Perfect Pout Gel Lip Liners. They are made with a special polymer formula, it seamlessly glides onto lips and leaves color that goes on for days. They have a very interesting feel to them, unlike any other lip liner I have tried before. They are very creamy and make for easy application!

Wet n Wild also released new shades of their Liquid Catsuit’s, both in the metallic and matte formula. Here I have seven new shades of the metallics and seven mattes. Both formulas are super long lasting and budge free, seriously.. These are JOB to remove from your lips, it’s wild. (hehe.. wild.)

Personally, I’m not a fan of metallics. I don’t wear them outside of my home or find them to be very flattering. Of course that is all personal preference, though. I am definitely a matte lipstick queen and I wear matte liquid lipstick every single day. The Wet N Wild formula is amazing because it is crazy long lasting, but if you ever need to reapply throughout the day, they do get very dry and crackly, which isn’t cute. However, since they are very pigmented, you shouldn’t have to do more than one coat. These are only $4.99 so I highly recommend picking a few up!

Little disclaimer… I am the worst at swatching, so take these swatches with a grain of salt and focus more on the shades rather than the application. These are quick drying, so me going over the swatch a few times created a patchy effect. The only shade I had an actual issue with from the new collection was the black. It wasn’t quite as pigmented as the rest and it actually was a little patchy on application. I definitely prefer the Megalast Black to the liquid catsuit version.

Next is super exciting! They dropped the UltimateBrow Retractable Brow Pencils that seem to be an amazing dupe for Benefit’s Goof Proof brow pencil, which is my current favorite! I cannot wait to try these on my brows because I go through brow products way too quickly to keep spending so much on each one! I have been needing an affordable dupe and these are only $3.99! Here I have three shades, Ash Brown, Medium Brown, and Dark Brown.

These next products I felt I had to include for those interested but to be totally honest… I cannot stand these. These are the Color Icon Glitter Singles. They are pressed glitters, but feel very sticky and don’t apply easily or look good in any way shape or form. Not to mention the glitter doesn’t set and moves around on your lids all throughout the day. Just imagine wearing a gloss on your lids… it’s the same feel. Not something I care for, but I digress.

Here are swatches. I’ll let you decide how you feel about them.

THESE NEXT ONES……… YOU GUYS. I cannot contain myself – these are incredible! These are the new MegaGlo Hello Halo liquid highlighters in seven shades, perfect for any and all skin tones! From the website, “buildable liquid highlighter that delivers a multi-shimmer glow thanks to its shimmering pearl pigments. The hydrating formula is infused with powerhouses like Murumuru Seed Butter, Grapeseed Oil, and Vitamin E to help smooth out the skin’s texture.”

Left go right: Go With the Glow, Gilded Glow, Goddess Glow, Rosy and Ready, Halo Gorgeous, Halo, Goodbye, Halographic. All available for $5.99.

Diving into eye shadow palettes, Wet n Wild has reformulated their shadows and I am so impressed with them! Before, they weren’t the best, but for the price I had no issues with them. Now, they are so much better and blend out so much more nicely! I see you doing your thang, Wet n wild, I see you, and I’m here for it.

Top Petalette, bottom Silent Treatment. Both quads are available for $2.99 – a steal!

They also released these Color Icon Eyeshadow 10 Pan Palettes for only $4.99 and these… You guys better not sleep on these because I am in love already!

Top to Bottom, Rose in the Air, Not a Basic Peach, Comfort Zone, and Nude Awakening. I need all of you to pick up ‘Not a Basic Peach’ RIGHT NOW – it is such a gorgeous palette, it blends so well, and the color payoff is crazy considering these are only $5!

Lastly, the new brushes! I don’t have all of them here, but these are the new Pro Brush Line and I am, again, so impressed by how high end these look and feel. The whole bundle is $69, which I was a little shook by when I first spotted that on the website, but it comes with 10 brushes and each brush retails between $5.99 to $7.99 individually. I have yet to use them on my face, but I love the look and feel of these. Definitely a step up from their first launch of brushes, which were also good, just not my favorites. These photo doesn’t give a good representation of how the rose gold/pink chrome handles actually look, but they look so stunning in person!

Overall, I am very impressed by each new product Wet n Wild has launched and I hope this breakdown of the new line was helpful and informative for you! Let me know your thoughts and what you’re most excited about! Personally, the Hello Halo liquid highlights and 10 pan eye shadow palettes are calling my name! I can’t wait to dive in and create some tutorials with everything!

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading! Make sure you’re all caught up on my previous posts! XO
