Halloween Treats Recipes

My absolute favorite thing about throwing a party is making all the treats and snacks to serve! I always have so much fun trying out new recipes, so I wanted to share with you the two star of the show treats I made for my Halloween party! Both are super quick and simple, and you can make the Rice Krispy Treats vegan if needed!

I also made a super easy, spooky punch that is perfect for Halloween and LIME green!

  • 1 liter of 7UP
  • 3 cups Pineapple juice
  • 1 packet lime green jell-o (just add in the packet, don’t make the jell-o. It wont harden so don’t worry)
  • mango vodka
  • dried ice

Just mix all the indgredients together in a large punch bowl, add as much vodka as needed (we used a whole bottle) and then drop in the dried ice to get it bubbling and looking spooky! EASY!

I have been trying out a vegan diet recently, so I wanted to make vegan rice krispy treats for the party so I could actually eat one of the things I made LOL! However, if you are not vegan you can make them the regular recipe off the box!

  • 6 Cups Rice Krispie Cereal – I found a vegan rice cereal brand at whole food
  • 3 tbs Butter – I used the Earth Balance vegan butter
  • 10 oz  Marshmallows (approx 1 Bag) – Used Dandies vegan marshmallows
  • Red & Yellow Food Coloring (to make orange color) – I used the “color kitchen” brand from Amazon
  • Rolo’s/Tootsie Rolls and green M&M’s (the only non-vegan ingredients I used, I just took them off before eating. You can def find a vegan sub for these items, but since I was the only person trying to eat vegan at my party, I skipped it.)
  1. Melt your butter in a large sauce pan over low heat
  2. Add marshmallows and stir constantly until melted
  3. Remove from heat
  4. Add approx 4 drops of red food coloring & 2 drop yellow food coloring- Add until you have a nice bright orange color
  5. Mix in Rice Krispies
  6. Form small balls into the shape of a pumpkin (Tip: Add vegetable oil to your hands before forming your balls, or else it will be a sticky mess)
  7. Top with the candy!

The Jalapeno Poppers were definetly not vegan LOL, but they were the biggest hit at the party! Everyone gobbled these up FAST so I’d make extra if you plan on serving these!

  • 10 Jalapeño Peppers
  • 8 oz Softened Cream Cheese
  • 8 oz Pepper Jack Cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon minched garlic
  • Pinch Salt
  • Pinch Pepper
  • 1 Scallion
  • Candy Eyeballs
  • Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
  1. Preheat your over to 400° in line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash then Slice your jalapeño peppers in half lengthwise and scoop out the inside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, use a cheese grater to shred your block of pepper jack cheese.
  4. Chop a scallion in tiny pieces.
  5. Mix in your cream cheese, scallion pieces, garlic, pepper and salt to your shredded cheese.
  6. Fill your jalapeño peppers with your cheese mixture.
  7. Now unroll your crescent rolls into rectangles (leave two triangles together and pinch the middle together).
  8. Use a pizza cutter to cut each crescent rectangle lengthwise into four even pieces.
  9. Wrap one or two pieces around each pepper, leaving a small opening for the eyes.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  11. Right when you take your mummies out of the oven, add two candy eyes in each top opening

PÜR Cosmetics Shake & Bake Under Eye Powder to Cream Concealer

The new Shake and Bake Under Eye Concealer makes it so you can now conceal and set all in one go! Perfect for those of you with a quick morning routine or if you just don’t have the time (or just don’t like to!) bake your face with powder!

The Shake and Bake Under Eye Concealer is such an interesting formula – it transforms from powder to cream the second you go to blend it out. It melts right into the skin for a smooth, creaseless formula and doesn’t settle into fine lines. These are vegan, talc free, gluten free, cruelty free, BPA free, and paraben free.

So far there are only three shades available – light, medium, and dark. I was a little confused on the limited range until I played around with the product. Essentially, these are a setting powder, so these are a little more flexible with skintones. You can really work this formula to blend right into your skin, no matter your shade. With other PUR formulas, the ‘light’ is much too dark for me, but this one melted right into my under-eye and ended up matching my skintone once I started blending. They work with your body chemistry to color match you correctly, which is really innovative! I would definitely recommend swatching these in stores though, just to make sure they work for you!

Recommended Application:

Step 1: Shake a generous amount onto the Mini Blending Sponge (included)

Step 2: Dab over blemishes and/or under eyes. With help from your body’s chemistry, the powder formula turns into a cream and melts into the skin. Within seconds it sets for a smooth “baked” finish.

Shake & Bake is available now at purcosmetics.com for $26. You can find it online at Ulta 2/18 and in stores 3/4.

They also launched the Shake & Boost Powder to Cream Multivitamin Booster. This formula helps minimize the look of pores, improve the appearance of fine lines, dark spots, and uneven complexion. It features vitamins B and C as well as the age-defying Ceretin Complex.

Shake & Boost is the same powder to cream formula as Shake & Bake, so it melts into your skin with ease. It is also vegan, talc free, gluten free, cruelty free, BPA free, and paraben free.

Recommended Application:

  • Wear Alone: Shake a small amount of product onto your fingertips and apply directly to dry skin.
  • Mix It: With your moisturizer, serum, foundation or concealer, shake a small amount of product onto your fingertips. Add your other skincare or makeup products and blend together with fingertips until smooth.

I was definitely hesitant about this product at first because I have never tried anything like it before. The Shake & Bake under eye concealer doesn’t offer much coverage, it’s more of a “your skin but better” type of look. It gives you a very healthy looking glow and feels extremely lightweight. This is something that I probably won’t wear day-to-day, but it did look and feel really nice for a quick, natural makeup look! This is something I’d wear to the airport, to run errands, or even to the gym. I didn’t set it since it is advertised as “self setting” and I didn’t crease up or move to my surprise. However, even once it was all the way dried down, there was the slightest hint of tackiness still to it. Definitely didn’t feel the same as when you set with regular powder, but it was t sticky or uncomfortable so I didn’t mind it to be honest. The Shake & Boost is still something I’m trying to understand and play around with. I used it on its own, no other makeup, just on areas with bigger pores (my cheeks and chin) and it actually did do a decent job of minimizing my pores! I definitely need to try it out more before I recommend it and give a solid review though.

If you’re into different kinds of new, initiative products, the Shake & Bake is worth trying! This reminds me a lot of Milk Makeup or Glossier makeup, where it’s kind of minimal, natural, on the go types of products, so if you’re a fan of that I really think you will enjoy this! I also have a coupon code with Pür for 20% off, it’s just HAILIE at checkout! Thank you guys so much reading, again! XO

New Tarte Cosmetics Skincare

Tarte recently added two new skincare items to their collection and I was so excited to try these when they launched! I am already a fan of Tarte skincare, the Maracuja Oil and Drink of H2O are some of my holy grail products, so I was hoping these would be another great new addition to the line! The two new products they just released are the Blemish Bully acne spot treatment and the Knockout tingling treatment, pictured below.

I have been trying these products out for over a month now so that I could give you a full, thorough review! I have been dealing with a ton of skin issues and acne lately due to recent diet changes and stress, so Lord knows I needed some good skincare in my life! I also have very dry skin, (year round, but the winter isn’t helping!) so keep that in mind during my review, as well!

Starting with the Blemish Bully, I was most excited to give this one a go! I have been using the Eradikate spot treatment for over a year now, so I felt it was time to mix it up and try something new anyway. Eradikate is amazing and I highly recommend it, but it is a super harsh product and is seriously drying to my already dry skin, so I was ecstatic to see that Blemish Bully was a total opposite formula and wasn’t drying at all. I was also used to overnight products, whereas Blemish Bully you can use anytime of day, and it’s clear! I started off just using it just at night, after my regular skincare routine, because that’s what I was used to with my previous treatment. I was pleasantly surprised to see that within the first week of using it, my acne had gone down immensely within size and redness, and my smaller blemishes disappeared literally overnight! I didn’t notice a scent to the product either, which is always a plus! Acne treatments tend to be very chemical smelling. It stung only on blemishes that were open, but for the most part I didn’t feel it or notice it at all. Overall, I enjoyed the acne treatment and will continue to keep using it!

When I started using the new Knockout Tingling Treatment (same time as I began using the Blemish Bully) I was honestly a little hesitant. First of all, I don’t really like anything “tingly” so that already made me nervous. Second of all, as soon as I opened the bottle the smell was extremely pungent, almost vinegar-like. Not something you really want to slather on your skin, but for the sake of the blog, that’s exactly what I did. The tingle was more so of a burning sensation than anything and it made my skin red immediately upon contact, but that tingle and redness went away after a few minutes. You know what they say, beauty is pain or whatever, so I got over it. I didn’t notice much the next morning, except my face being soft, but I continued to use it morning and night. About three days into using it I noticed the pores around my nose and cheeks (my biggest problem area) had dramatically gone down in size and my skin overall seemed to clear up – keep in mind I was also using Blemish Bully on my acne during this, too! It did seem to make my skin feel a little tight though, and definitely didn’t help my dryness, so I started applying my Maracuja Oil right after and then following up with the Drunk Elephant LaLa Retro Whipped Cream moisturizer and that helped a lot. By the fifth day of use, my skin honestly looked amazing and even brighter! Again, I was a little shocked. I went in expecting the product to mess my skin up (sorry, Tarte!) and came out like some glowy skin goddess! The few minutes of stinging and redness I could handle for some nice skin, but I really do wish the smell wasn’t so strong! I’d give it a 7/10 overall and if you were on the fence with trying it, try it out! I’m super happy with the results, but I have cut back to using it 2-3 times a week instead of every single day and then using my Pixi Glow Tonic the rest of the week and that seems to be the recipe to happy skin!

I’m always a little iffy about makeup companies that come out with skincare, because it isn’t always the best for you and some brands really do not care about what ingredients they are selling to you, but Tarte seems to nail it every time! Not only do they have great makeup, but their skincare is equally amazing! Have you guys got around to trying these new products out yet? What was your experience with them? Did they work for you, too? Let’s chat in the comments! As always, thank you so much for reading and I hope you guys found this helpful!
